Our Philosophy

Sentinel is a professional field tool for security-camera installers and IT administrators. It is built on a simple principle: Sentinel talks only to the devices on your own local network, and never to us. 6tSevn BV operates no servers that receive, store, or process your data. There are no user accounts, no analytics trackers, no advertising identifiers, and no telemetry of any kind.

What Data We Do Not Collect

Sentinel does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following on 6tSevn servers:

  • Discovered device information (model, firmware, MAC, serial, IP, network settings)
  • Administrator passwords or activation credentials
  • Network configuration you apply to devices (IP, mask, gateway, DHCP)
  • Your name, email address, or any identifying information
  • Analytics, usage statistics, or crash reports sent to 6tSevn
  • Advertising identifiers (IDFA)

Local Network Access

Sentinel's core function is to discover and configure devices on your local network. To do this, the app requires Local Network permission (on iOS this is requested on first scan). Sentinel:

  • Uses standard multicast (ONVIF WS-Discovery and SADP probing) to discover devices, including devices whose IP is outside your current subnet.
  • Communicates directly between your device and the cameras and recorders on your network. This traffic stays on your local network and is never routed through 6tSevn servers.
  • Reads device details (model, firmware, MAC, serial, current network settings) that devices report over these standard protocols.
  • Performs ONVIF discovery on a read-only basis — configuration changes are always explicit and deliberate.

Without Local Network permission, Sentinel cannot scan for or configure devices.

Credentials & the Keychain

When you activate a new device or authenticate to an existing one, Sentinel handles administrator passwords and other credentials. These credentials are stored securely in the iOS/macOS Keychain — never in plain text and never transmitted to 6tSevn BV.

  • Passwords you set during activation are used to communicate with the target device and are stored in the system Keychain on your device.
  • Device activation is handled using encryption on your device before credentials are sent to the target device over your local network.
  • 6tSevn BV has no access to your credentials at any time.

Local Data Storage

Any data Sentinel retains — such as remembered devices, credentials, and app preferences — is stored locally on your device within the app's sandboxed container (credentials in the Keychain). This data never leaves your device except as direct communication with the devices on your local network that you choose to manage.

Changing Device Settings

Sentinel can change a device's IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DHCP mode, and can set a device's administrator password during activation. These actions are performed directly against the target device over your local network. To change settings or activate a device, you must be on the same subnet as it, because those actions run over IP and require the device to be routable. Sentinel clearly marks out-of-subnet devices as detect-only.

Notifications

If Sentinel uses notifications, they are generated locally on your device using Apple's UserNotifications framework. They are never routed through external servers or third-party push notification services.

Third-Party Services

Sentinel uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The app is built with Apple-native frameworks. It does not send your data to any server operated by 6tSevn BV or any third party. The only network communication Sentinel performs is with the discovery and configuration devices on your own local network.

Your Data Control

You are in full control of your data at all times:

  • Remove stored credentials and devices within the app at any time.
  • Delete all local data by removing the app from your device.
  • Revoke Local Network access at any time via your device's Settings.

Uninstalling Sentinel permanently removes all locally stored data, including any credentials held in the Keychain for the app.

Children's Privacy

Sentinel is a professional utility and is not directed at children. As no personal data is collected by 6tSevn at all, the app is suitable for general use.

Trademarks

Sentinel is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any camera manufacturer. "ONVIF" is a trademark of the ONVIF consortium. "SADP" and "Hikvision-compatible" are used solely to describe compatibility; the respective names are trademarks of their respective owners.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this document. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
